What is Pilates?

Pilates is a movement methodology created by Joseph Pilates that utilizes controlled movements focused on core strength, joint mobility, postural alignment, body awareness, and breath.

Who is Pilates for?

Everyone! Pilates is a wonderful fitness modality for every body. If you struggle with mobility, flexibility, core strength, body awareness, balance, stability, joint pain, etc., Pilates is for you!!!

Are studio prices flexible?

We are deeply invested in creating a sustainable and healthy environment for not only our clientele but also our staff. Part of that sustainability and health involves fair compensation. With higher compensation unfortunately comes higher rates for clients. With that being said, Somatic Studios strives to prioritize accessibility for all clients. If current prices do not feel feasible, please reach out to katy@somaticstudiosmi.com!

Do I have to bring my own mat?

No! We provide all of the equipment needed during mat Pilates and yoga classes including a mat and mat towel. If you wish to bring your own mat to stack on top of ours, you are more than welcome to do so.

What should I wear?

Normal workout attire that you feel comfortable in is perfect for all classes, sessions, and wellness services. We recommend wearing Pilates grip socks for Group Equipment Classes.

Policies

  • We happily accept all major credit cards as well as direct debit. While credit cards offer many convenient perks, they also come with processing fees. To help cover these costs, applicable credit card processing fees are added to your total at checkout. If you’d prefer to avoid these fees, you’re welcome to choose our direct debit payment option instead.

*Please note that a credit card on file or connected ACH direct debit account is required for all Unlimited Memberships.

  • We ask that you sign up for classes and services via our online booking system or the Momence app. All services require online registration in advance.

  • All group classes, sessions, and services may be cancelled up to 12 hours in advance of the start of the class/service/session without the loss of the credit. If you do cancel within the 12-hour late-cancellation period, your class/session/service credit will be forfeited. *If you have an unlimited membership, late-cancellations will result in a $15 late-cancellation fee.*

If you do not show up for your class/session/service, you are considered a “no-show” and will be forfeiting your class/session/service credit. *If you have an unlimited membership, no-shows will result in a $20 no-show fee.*

Schedules change and life happens! Every client participating in private/duo sessions or wellness services receives a single late-cancellation/no-show freebie. Your first session/service late-cancel OR no-show is on us! After your first late-cancellation OR no-show, the loss of credit will be at the discretion of your instructor or wellness practitioner.

All class/session/services can be cancelled and rescheduled on our online scheduling platform or the Momence app.

  • All group classes and private sessions/services offer a 12 person waitlist to give you a chance to get into a full class or to get booked for your ideal private-session time slot when someone cancels.

If you sign up for the waitlist, please expect and prepare to come to class. Waitlists are automatic, adding you into class when a spot opens up to 1 hour before class starts. If you make it into the class via the waitlist, you will be notified via text and email.

Please note that standard late-cancellation and no-show policies apply even if you are added to class from the waitlist. If you do not wish to come to class, please cancel yourself off of the waitlist.

  • We care about your time and our instructors’ time! All of our classes start and end on time. To maintain this punctuality, we ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early to all group classes. We do provide a 5-minute grace period to all late arrivals, but we hope to not use this grace period regularly!

Many of our classes involve a warm-up period to prepare your body for the rest of the class and to ensure a safe workout. If this warm-up period is missed, you are at higher risk of injury and decrease the effectiveness of your class.

Please message the studio or your instructor if you are running late. We will do our best to accommodate you and set you up for class.

  • We aim to create a calm environment where you can focus on you for an hour of your day. We ask that all phones are silenced and placed in the provided cubbies before class begins and remains in the designated cubby throughout the duration of the class.
